About this class
This intensive 5-week workshop will cover a variety of different materials and methods for screen printing onto clay. Each class will focus on a different technique spanning from sun exposed EZ screens on flat slabs, to more traditional prints on newsprint and applied as decals, to printing directly on 3D objects. While no experience with printmaking is necessary, some basic experience with ceramics is required. We will cover the essentials for making your own stencils, screens, imagery, and how to get them onto clay. We will not cover construction or wheel throwing techniques for clay. Basic glazes, slips, and underglazes are included in the cost of this class, as well as some limited screens and transparencies. However, you will need to provide your own cone 10 clay and any additional materials you may want. Each participant will be given a document that contains detailed information on screen basics, as well as where to purchase these materials and local businesses that can assist you with screen exposure after the workshop.
