Wheel Trimming
(Intermediate/Advanced)
About this class
Class will cover a wide range of topics related to wheel trimming: prepping pieces for trimming, matching clay moisture content to the right tool, centering and securing your piece, tapping to determine how much more to trim, foot shaping, and finishing including burnishing, chattering, and carving. The class to empower you to finish your work with more confidence and finner results. The instructor will supply one piece for each student to trim, but students will get the most from the class if they bring 2-4 pieces of their own to trim. Be sure the pieces are (in your opinion) the right moisture content ("leather hard" is best). If you have a favorite tool (or one you're not sure how to use), please bring it; this class is about exploration!
